Licensure/Accreditation Maintenance and Updates

Maintaining active licensure and accreditation status, reporting correct tests, instruments and test volumes, and making changes to licensure as needed for additional tests, change in director, location and/or contact information.

Personnel Scheduling, Training, and Documented Competencies

Assistance with personnel hiring, scheduling, training, and documented competencies are essential to a well run laboratory. These continuous processes must be maintained efficiently to meet regulatory and documentation criteria for testing personnel.

Analyzer/Instrument Document Review

Monthly review of analyzer calibration verifications, calibrations, maintenance, correlation reports, monthly quality control (QC) and Levey-Jennings (L-J) charts monitor the overall performance of the laboratory instrumentation and accuracy of testing.

Proficiency Testing Performance Evaluation

Monitoring to ensure correct proficiency testing sample receiving procedures, test performance, and summary review of evaluation reports and corrective action taken if needed.

Quality Assessments

Monthly review of quality indicators and reports as determined by regulations, facility, and goals of the laboratory, to include, personnel status, analyzer/instrument documents review, proficiency testing performance evaluations, LIS/EHR issues, test volumes to billing/reimbursement assessment, critical results documentation, and corrective action incidents, if needed.

Inspection/Survey Preparation and Participation

Preparation and participation for initial and biennial inspections, to include, an off-year mock inspection. Monthly or bimonthly on-site audits serve as mini-mock inspections throughout the year.

Monthly Round Table with Medical Director and Personnel

Monthly round tables with the laboratory testing team and separately with the laboratory medical director, administrator, and any additional key stakeholders in the operation of the laboratory. These meetings brief the entire team on the overall status of the laboratory and provide opportunity to discuss any issues, plans or goals for the department.
